Code of Conduct

The 17th International Conference on Mercury as Global Pollutant welcomes all. Our meeting intends to serve as a platform for scientific discussions and interactions in an open, inclusive, and respectful environment. We hope that all participants will treat all delegates equally, regardless of country or region of origin, race, age, gender, religion, political and religious belief, marital status, disabilities, appearances, and orientation.

As organizers, it is our responsibility to foster and sustain a welcoming environment. Therefore, we are introducing a Code of Conduct for the 17th ICMGP. We do not tolerate any behavior that prevents attendees from fully participating in the conference or that discourages potential attendees from registering due to the past or ongoing actions of another attendee.

Expected Conduct

A professional, collegial, and respectful attitude is to be maintained at all times, enabling participants to engage with the conference without any apprehensions related to others’ behavior towards them.

Unacceptable Conduct

Harassment and scientific misconduct are strictly prohibited. Attendees must not harass, intimidate, or discriminate against any participant. This includes any past incidents of harassment or intimidation that could deter someone from attending the conference. Additionally, attendees are expected to avoid manipulating or misrepresenting research findings.

Reporting Harassment

During the conference, an attendee who feels or witness harassment may inform of their case at the email: icmgp2026@ce.iith.ac.in. All reports of any kind of harassment will be treated confidentially, and seriously.

If incidence(s) has(have) occurred previously and are discouraging you from attending the ICMGP due to the potential presence of your harasser, and without whom you would definitely attend the conference, please report your case to the above email.

Reporting Misconduct

Scientific and ethical misconduct by individuals or groups may be reported to email: icmgp2026@ce.iith.ac.in. All reports are treated confidentially.

All submitted confidential material will be deleted from the server by April 2027 by default

Remedial Procedures

Reports will be addressed by the 17th ICMGP Code of Conduct Committee, consisting of 3–5 members from ExCo and SSC.

In case of harassment, the concerned individual will be asked to stop the offensive behavior immediately. Actions may start from a verbal warning to removal from the conference without any refunds. If a report is made before the conference takes place, the individual will be politely advised not to attend the conference, and their registration will not be accepted.

For scientific or ethical misconduct, a warning may be issued, which may be followed by expulsion.
