Since 1990, the International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant (ICMGP) has stood as the world’s foremost platform for advancing knowledge, policy, and solutions to mercury pollution. From the first gathering in Gävle, Sweden, to its upcoming 17th edition in Hyderabad, India (2026), ICMGP has connected scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders across five continents.
Over the decades, the conference has traveled through academic and environmental hubs including Minamata (Japan), Jeju (South Korea), Guiyang (China), Kraków (Poland), Cape Town (South Africa), and Monterey (USA). Each host city has brought its unique context to global mercury challenges — from scientific breakthroughs to actionable policy discussions.
India is proud to host ICMGP 2026 in Hyderabad, marking a major milestone for the Global South. With growing environmental concerns, transdisciplinary research, and policy ambitions, India is poised to lead the conversation on mercury and heavy metal pollution in this critical decade of climate and environmental action.
Join us as we continue this extraordinary journey of impact, equity, and environmental stewardship.
