CALL FOR MERCURY WORKSHOPS

As part of the 17th ICMGP 2026, the Executive Committee is pleased to announce the opening of the call for mini proposals to conduct workshops during the opening day registration, scheduled for Sunday, 4th October 20206, at the IIT Hyderabad Convention Centre, India.

These Pre-Conference Workshops offer a dynamic and interactive platform for learning, collaboration, and innovation across all facets of mercury science. Whether you are addressing complex mercury challenges, exploring cutting-edge technologies, or sharing best practices, the Mercury Workshops are designed to foster deep engagement and knowledge exchange.

A RANGE OF TOPICS TO CONSIDER…OR PROPOSE A NEW TOPIC…

A range of categories/topics for the 17th ICGMP 2026 Mercury Workshops have been identified. Prospective presenters are invited to submit their mini proposals on any of the following topics or propose a new topic they believe is important to showcase as part of the Mercury Workshop Series:

  • ASGM Best Practice Methods
  • Mercury Advisories
  • Atmospheric Monitoring & Cycling: Mercury sources, deposition, fate & transport
  • Biomonitoring: Ecosystem approaches, water, wildlife, human, passive sampling
  • FAO Program on Mercury
  • Global Mercury Program: Policy Elements: UN collaboration
  • Socio-Economic and Behavioural Science Aspects related to Mercury
  • Minamata Convention: Interfacing Science and Policy
  • Isotopic analysis
  • Setting up Country-wide Mercury Deposition Networks
  • New analytical methods / Metrology QA/QC
  • NGO Mercury Analytical tools
  • Mercury Emissions and Climate Change
  • Life-cycle Assessment applications and Mercury Exposure from technologies
  • Mercury Research in Asia (Current and Future Status)
  • Emerging technologies, software and tools for use in mercury research
  • Techniques and equipment in mercury research in the field
  • Emerging issues in mercury research

Submit Your Mini-Proposal:
  • We invite all members of the mercury community, viz., scientists, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to submit mini proposals to host a workshop/s during the Mercury Workshop Series to be held at ICMGP 2026, in Hyderabad, India.
To submit your Mini-Proposal, please complete & return the attached template, including:
  • Workshop Title / Topic
  • Brief description to attract attendees and highlight relevance
  • Any logistical or technical needs (e.g., equipment, room setup) for participants

Submissions are now open! This is your opportunity to shape the learning experience at ICMGP 2026 and contribute to the advancement of mercury science and collaboration.

The ICGMP 2026 Mercury Workshops Mini-Proposals shall be reviewed by one Executive Committee member and one Scientific Steering Committee member, who shall work together with identified members of the Scientific Steering Committee to finalise the selection of the Workshops to be held at the upcoming 17th ICMGP Conference.

Prospective Workshop Presenters shall be notified and confirmed on 1 April 2026.
